Eyes Wide Open

from Demos by The False Positives

/

about

This is the second digital release from the False Positives. The band is led by songwriter/guitarist Dave Harrison who was in the well known Boston-based band the Voodoo Dolls, which performed regularly at legendary rock clubs such as New York City’s CBGB's and the Rat in Boston and also toured the Northeast and Middle Atlantic regions during which time they opened for bands like Redd Kross, the Fleshtones, the Cynics, the Bags, and Lyres. The Voodoo Dolls were a cross between the Beatles and the Ramones, who they opened for five times in Boston, Providence, and New Haven. Flash forward a couple of decades, and now Dave is back making real rock ‘n’ roll with his mad scientist mix of influences such as the Kinks, Velvet Underground, the MC5, and the Flamin’ Groovies.

In November 2018, the False Positives made their debut at Lux in Rochester, opening for local favorites Harmonica Lewinski and the Fox Sisters. The band released their first digital single, “Good Enough for Rock ‘n’ Roll,” and received airplay on local stations and international podcasts. A return engagement at Lux is April 2019 was packed. More shows to follow.

lyrics

I don't know why but I can't say goodbye
It feels like I'm holding my breath
I can't believe that my hearts on my sleeve
I've taken my leave of sense
Eyes wide open, the writings on the wall
Eyes wide open, come on come on open your eyes to me
Don't understand bout your master plan
I'm taking the easy way out
All I know is I love you so
Can't see a shadow of doubt
Eyes wide open, the writings on the wall
Eyes wide open, come on come on open your eyes to me
I don't know why you just can't see what I can see
To let it go and just believe, instantly
Eyes wide open, the writings on the wall
Eyes wide open, can't see a shadow of doubt at all
Eyes wide open, I just can't see it all
Eyes wide open
come on come on open your eyes to me
